Quebec Workers' Compensation (CNESST)

CNESST is similar to the Workers' Compensation Benefit in other Canadian jurisdictions.

The CNESST (Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail) is a Quebec-based organization responsible for overseeing labor standards, pay equity, and workplace health and safety. When it comes to payroll, CNESST plays a crucial role in ensuring that employers adhere to legal requirements regarding employee compensation. This includes compliance with minimum wage laws, proper calculation of overtime pay, and adherence to pay equity standards. Employers must accurately report payroll information and contributions to the CNESST to meet regulatory obligations and avoid potential penalties.

Once an employer has finalized the CNESST account set up, they will need to provide us with the correct rate to deduct and remit the appropriate CNESST premiums.
