CNT: The Labor Standards Commission Quebec

If you are an employer that is subject to the contribution related to labour standards, you are required to pay a contribution to CNT (Commission des normes du travail)

In Quebec, businesses are required to pay into the Commission des normes du travail (CNT) because it is part of the province's efforts to ensure compliance with labor standards and workers' rights. The CNT oversees the administration and enforcement of the Labour Standards Act (the Loi sur les normes du travail), which sets the minimum standards for wages, working conditions, and employee benefits in Quebec.

Businesses contribute to the CNT primarily in the form of premiums. Contributions are required from employers as part of the system designed to create a fair and just working environment in the province.

In summary, paying into the CNT is part of Quebec's broader commitment to upholding labor standards and ensuring fair treatment for workers within the province.

An employer's CNT contribution is paid once annually:

The client’s contribution related to labour standards for the year must be received by Revenu Québec or a financial institution by the last day of February of the following year. You must use the remittance slip included with the RL-1 summary to pay your contribution. If you are paying your contribution online, do not send the paper remittance slip.

Note: If a client is subject to CNT, this amount is populated on the releve summary but PayTrak does NOT remit that amount since it is subject to worldwide income.
